Intellectual Virtues - Paperback - Robert C. Roberts; W.
The epistemic virtues, as identified by virtue epistemologists, reflect their contention that belief is an ethical process, and thus susceptible to the intellectual virtue or vice of one's own life and personal experiences. Some epistemic virtues have been identified by W. Jay Wood, based on research into the medieval tradition. 1 Overview.
This chapter proposes a regulative virtues epistemology — an epistemology that does not aim to define justification, warrant, or knowledge except roughly and for present purposes, but instead aspires to deepen our understanding of intellectual character traits, and thus provide a guide for intellectual life.
